Annette Murphy is a qualified Accredited Practicing Dietitian (Dietitians Association of Australia) and obtained her degree at the University of Newcastle.
Having worked with many of the gastroenterologists in the public setting, she is excited to join the team at Beechnut Medical. Annette has worked as a senior clinical dietitian nationally and internationally at multiple tertiary teaching
hospitals. She is passionate about working with clients, listening to their concerns and formulating a realistic plan (in conjunction with the client) to improve their health and wellbeing.
Annette’s most recent work appointment has been as a senior clinical dietitian in gastroenterology, cardiology and acute care at the John Hunter Hospital. She is currently rolling out a Nutrition Care Policy for Hunter New England Health. Annette has also worked as a dietitian in mental health settings and believes compassionate, patient-centred care is vital for optimal client outcomes in any domain. She has lectured, tutored and undertaken clinical research in the Dept of Nutrition and Dietetics and the Priority Research Centre for Physical Activity and Nutrition (PRC-PAN) at the University of Newcastle.
Annette has worked as a dietitian in both the United Kingdom and Singapore and has been lucky to have travelled extensively in Europe, Asia and Latin America with her husband and two boys. Her true home has always been Newcastle and as a beach-loving family, the Murphy’s have always returned to the gorgeous Hunter coastline.
Annette is pleased to offer her dietetics expertise in a number of specialist areas including gastrointestinal disorders, heart disease, diabetes, nutrition support, surgery, disordered eating, neurology and general medicine.
