Dr Michael Potter offers comprehensive gastroenterological services including open access endoscopy at Beechnut Medical Rooms. His expertise spans the full breadth of gastroenterology, with particular focus on gastro-oesophageal reflux disease, coeliac disease, screening for colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, chronic liver disease and liver cancer. He is approachable and committed to delivering empathetic, patient-centred care.

Dr Potter completed his medical training at the University of Sydney where he graduated with honours, and specialist training in Gastroenterology & Hepatology at John Hunter and Calvary Mater Hospitals in Newcastle. He was awarded a PhD from the University of Newcastle for research examining the role of diet in functional and inflammatory bowel diseases. He has published extensively in leading medical journals including The Lancet Gastroenterology & Hepatology, Gut, and the American Journal of Gastroenterology, with over 1,200 academic citations and an h-index of 19. He works as Staff Specialist Gastroenterologist at John Hunter Hospital and is a Conjoint Lecturer at the University of Newcastle, where he teaches medical students and junior doctors.
