Dr Georgia Edwards is pleased to be able to offer a wide range of Gastroenterology services to you at Beechnut Medical Rooms.
Since her arrival in Newcastle in 2008, Dr Georgia Edwards has formed a supportive relationship with Beechnut’s founder, Dr Kate Napthali and is excited to join the specialist team in their Hamilton practice. As well as practising Gastroenterology with the Beechnut team, Georgia is also dual trained in General Medicine.
Born into a medical family, Georgia has been on track to practise medicine ever since she was a child. She recalls the fondness with which her parents and their colleagues spoke of their love of the profession and the sense of satisfaction that it brought them. Her own journey through medicine has fostered similar feelings. As a medical student at the University of Sydney (2004-2007), a placement sowed her initial seeds of interest in Gastroenterology, and Georgia’s passion was confirmed as she prepared for her Physician’s exams in 2013.
Though Georgia has a particular interest in inflammatory bowel disease, she appreciates the diversity of her gastroenterology patients and enjoys the rich balance of medical to procedural work which her field entails.
Georgia is a Conjoint Fellow with the University of Newcastle; a position which reflects her enthusiasm for medical education and allows for her to contribute to quality improvement across her field.
When Georgia is not working or at home with her husband and their three children, she is out walking the beach tracks, reading a book, listening to music, or researching sites around the world she hopes to visit in the future.
