Annette Murphy is a qualified Accredited Practicing Dietitian (Dietitians Association of Australia) and obtained her Honours degree at the University of Newcastle.
Having worked with many of the gastroenterologists in the public setting, she has joined Beechnut Medical. Annette has worked as a senior clinical dietitian nationally and internationally at multiple tertiary teaching hospitals. She is passionate about working with clients, listening to their concerns and formulating a realistic plan (in conjunction with the client) to improve their health and wellbeing. Annette believes compassionate, patient-centred care is vital for optimal client outcomes in any domain.
Annette’s most recent work appointment has been as Head of Discipline for Nutrition and Dietetics, HNE Mental Health. She has also worked as a senior clinical dietitian in gastroenterology, cardiology and acute care at the John Hunter Hospital. She has lectured, tutored and undertaken clinical research in the Dept of Nutrition and Dietetics and the Priority Research Centre for Physical Activity and Nutrition (PRC-PAN) at the University of Newcastle.
Annette has worked as a dietitian in Australia, the United Kingdom and Singapore, but her true home has always been Newcastle with her husband and two boys close to the gorgeous Hunter coastline.
Annette is pleased to offer her dietetics expertise in a number of specialist areas including gastrointestinal disorders including Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Coeliac disease, Crohns disease, Ulcerative Colitis, EoE, malnutrition, nutrition support and general nutrition issues.
